چکیده

The melanized dimorphic fungus Exophiala dermatitidis is detected mainly in the respiratory tract of patients with CF. However, how to determine clinical manifestation and indication for treatment bronchopulmonary mycosis difficult have not been systematically established yet. To conduct a prospective cohort study lasting 12 months. 200 sputum-producing cystic fibrosis who were ≥6 years age attended CF center included. Serum was analysed tailored, indirect in-house ELISA detect anti-Exophiala dermatitidis-IgG reaction. Reactivity by measuring absorbance at 450 nm our laboratory Brandenburg an der Havel, which performed collaborative partner from Bilbao, Spain (PhD student Leire Martin-Souto). results sputum sample analysis divided into two groups. One group culturally positive (>1 sample) other negative. specific IgG response significantly higher (p < 0.001). When multiple serum samples same patient are available, chronological imaging all allows immune response, associated both development infection efficacy antifungal therapy, even if do produce often seen CFTRm treated patients.

INK128 Exhibits Synergy with Azoles against Exophiala spp. and Fusarium spp.

Infections of Exophiala spp. and Fusarium spp. are often chronic and recalcitrant. Systemic disseminations, which mostly occur in immunocompromised patients, are often refractory to available antifungal therapies. The conserved target of rapamycin (TOR) orchestrates cell growth and proliferation in response to nutrients and growth factors, which are important for pathogenicity and virulence. IN...

Chromoblastomycosis caused by Exophiala spinifera.

We report the second case of chromoblastomycosis caused by Exophiala spinifera; this is the first known case in the United States. Examination of biopsied tissue showed thick-walled, internally septated, chestnut brown muriform cells (sclerotic bodies) within multinucleated giant cells present in the dermis that were characteristic of chromoblastomycosis. The individual cells within the murifor...

Nature and identification of Exophiala werneckii.

The morphological and physiological characteristics of 44 isolates of Exophiala werneckii recovered from human and environmental sources were indistinguishable from 2 isolates that caused tinea nigra. Casein hydrolysis and inability to decompose tyrosine differentiate E. werneckii from Exophiala jeanselmei, Exophiala spinifera, and Wangiella dermatitidis.

Subcutaneous Phaeohyphomycosis Caused by Exophiala salmonis

We report a case of subcutaneous infection in a 55-yr-old Korean diabetic patient who presented with a cystic mass of the ankle. Black fungal colonies were observed after culturing on blood and Sabouraud dextrose agar. On microscopic observation, septated ellipsoidal or cylindrical conidia accumulating on an annellide were visualized after staining with lactophenol cotton blue. The organism was...

Subcutaneous phaeohyphomycosis caused by Exophiala jeanselmei.

Exophiala jeanselmei, a saprobe in the environment, is an opportunistic pathogen. We present a rare case of subcutaneous phaeohyphomycosis caused by E jeanselmei in a man aged 66 years with a 3-month history of a tender swelling on the dorsal area of the left middle finger. Purulent fluid was aspirated from the area, and the culture yielded black colonies composed of conidiophores, phialides, a...
